Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is home to the 87th Air Base Wing and the 108th Air Refueling Wing. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is a joint base comprised of McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix and the Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst. The joint base was merged in October of 2009 as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Initiative. It is one of 12 joint bases in the United States. The 87th Air Base Wing provides support for over 3,900 facilities including over 40,000 Airmen, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians and their families. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst offers air mobility, shipboard test facilities and combat training across all of its three branches of the Armed Forces. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is located in Trenton, New Jersey. Housing at the Joint Base is privatized, and the Government Housing Office is co-located with United Communities as the contractor/developer of new properties. Military personnel are required to check in at the Government Housing Office to fill out a housing application and be placed on any applicable waiting list. Call the Housing Office at 609-754-3397. The waiting list depends on the service member’s rank and number of bedrooms requested. Single service members can contact the Dorm Manager at 609-754-2670 for further information.
Temporary Housing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is offered by the Temporary Lodging Facility in Building 2418. Military members will be reimbursed for up to 10 days and BAH rates may cover the 10 day-period. Check with the housing office to verify. Most temporary housing can be obtained for up to 30 days with approval. The Doughboy Inn also offers temporary housing accommodations with cooking facilities for families. The Inn is located about 8 minutes from the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. There is an outdoor recreational office which offers over flow sites as well as tent and RV hookups. Campers may reserve a site for a maximum of 7 days on a space-available basis. Pets are not allowed in most temporary lodging facilities.
